Creative Coaching

Is it hard for you to sleep? Are you SO excited to get your ideas out that they keep you up at night?

Let me guess: when the time comes to put them to paper, you’re stuck.

You’re like, “Where did all that mania go? I thought I was going to be a writing queen today, and instead, I’m chipping away at my cuticles until they bleed.”

I used to feel that way.

I longed to get into a flow state, an optimal mental zone to be creative.

Some days I had it. For reasons I didn’t understand, I’d wake up with the  tunnel vision I needed to knock out a whole essay.

But most days, I was too easily distracted by email, furiously hitting the refresh button to avoid my writing.

I was tired of being at the whim of this fickle force. I needed to learn how to control this creative feeling.

But My love of human psychology prompted me to research what creativity, motivation, and habit were, so I could master it and tap into it when I needed it the most.

Was there a way to jumpstart my creativity and get myself into a state of flow, guaranteed?

Duh, of course, there is.

The best creatives are the ones who have learned how to hack their natural creative rhythms and tap into it when they need it best.

We live in a #lifehack world.

But like all processes, this wasn’t going to happen over night. At the end of the day ( and the middle and the beginning) , I would have to put in the work. So I experimented with different processes until I found the routine that worked for me.

Now, I know the EXACT process that gets me into an ideal state of flow.

My procrastination days are far behind me. I wake up every morning knowing that if I repeat my creative routine, I'll make the progress I crave on the projects that matter most to me.

This has allowed me to pump out consistent quality content, from high ranking blog posts to emotionally engaging podcast episodes. And my cuticles have never looked better!

And now that I have mastered my own creative rhythms, I want to help you master yours.

“Ok,” I can hear you saying, “So you hacked your creativity. What gives you the audacity to teach it to others?”

I realized the process wasn’t so much my need to improve my writing but a need to understand my psychology and energy levels. Fortunately, my psychology degree gave me a good baseline to begin accurately studying creative processes.

Additionally, I have been coaching teens for years. I know I can do it because I have done it before. Before I started working with frustrated creatives, I tutored students from age 9-18 for the past three years. I helped them raise their scores from 100-500 points (which is a feat, especially with all those hormones flying around!). How did I do it? I focused on the strategy and coaching aspects.

I loved being able to analyze a student's process and see what kind of learner they were. As a storyteller, I have to know my audience, and I would explain each strategy uniquely, depending on the needs of my students and in a way that didn’t feel like I was forcing them to LOVE the SAT ( trust me, teens hate anything they are told to enjoy). Instead I was teaching them how to find what strategies worked best for them, how to connect with themselves to discover what their study rhythms were and how they learned best.

As much success as I had as a tutor, I don’t want to spend my life helping teens raise their test scores. I want to coach what I’m genuinely passionate about. I love helping people CREATE. I want to help generate more complex and unique ideas in the world.

Being creative is one of the beautiful superpowers of being human. It separates us from animals and allows us to create purpose. This incredible force burns inside of us so brightly it does keep us up at night.

It's time to put an end to your sleepless nights and awaken your inner creative.

That’s where I come in. If you need an outside perspective or are looking to jumpstart your creativity, I’m your spark.

The Process

You and I will have an initial conversation where we discuss your talents, current process, and goals. We will set up a consistent time for us to talk. Trust me, consistency is key here. If I didn’t have a schedule I would have never been able to launch two seasons of my successful travel podcast on my own.

There are two parts to this process: your goals and your creative habits.

Goals

  • Want to start an album?

  • Ready to launch that Youtube channel?

  • Need to finish that novel?

Whatever is burning inside of you, from traditional creative projects to the avant garde, I’m here to help you make it happen.

Together, we write out your goals and work backward with deadlines and marker points. You will walk away with a game plan that gives you direction and tells you exactly what to do and when.

Creative Habits

In our first conversation, I will ask you a series of in-depth questions to get to the root of your blockage. We will go through times in your life where you have felt most and least creative. We’ll dive deep into the stagnant well of creativity within you.

Then we’ll begin The Experiments. Don’t worry, they aren’t invasive. I will harness my understanding of psychology and my active listening skills and raging positivity to help find the unique process that suits YOUR creativity. We will begin to tinker with your creative process. A lot of what I will suggest may surprise you but all of it is based off of what we discover together.  We will find the creative process that sticks to you faster than ants on honey.

Each week we will check in on your progress and what is/isn’t working for you.

We will discover what kind of a creative you are and how to find the motivation and discipline to sit down and commit to your work. Together, we will chisel out the creative within you.

I do six weeks, three months, or six-month contracts.

Ideally, I want to put myself out of a job. I want to give you the tools and help create the habits so you can flourish on your own and create what you do best.

If you are looking for someone who is painfully optimistic during a sometimes torturous process, someone who will believe in you when you need it most, someone to vent to and celebrate with. I am your gal!

I have been through the process alone and want to help you squeeze your creative juices faster.

I’m someone who will believe in you when you're convinced there's nothing to believe in, someone whose suffered through the depths of self-doubt and come out the other side… .
